Reading is hard! Listen here!

Audio Files

I think the addition of an audio file to each post is an important aspect of this site. The audio consists of me reading each post out loud. The reason I’m doing this is two-fold. First, people who have a hard time reading should have the same opportunity to view this site as people without reading difficulties. Secondly, I believe that by reading each post out loud I will give my readers a chance to hear my challenges with this task.  I HATE reading out loud! I pause too often, I get stuck on EASY words and I re-arrange sentences. Suffice it to say that these recordings will not be read with the grace of Tina Fey in her audiobook, “Bossy Pants,” but they will be 100% me. Some of you may identify with my personal struggle with reading out loud and others may know a fellow peer that reads like I do. One of the goals for this site is to increase awareness about LD and ADHD and hearing me read is a good indication of what my disability sounds like. Look for “Reading is HARD! Listen here!” link near the top of each post for the audio files.

Bullet Points

Not everyone enjoys listening to someone read (especially if that person is me)! So, this site will have bullet points of each article for people who may have attention issues or people who would rather get the Cliff Notes. I know I do!

If you have any other suggestions to make this website completely accessible to EVERYONE please let me know (Collin@LDPhD.org)!
